
Alto Saxophones require the purchase of wooden reeds ($2.50 each). The mouthpiece and reed are placed inside of the mouth. When the student moistens the reed and uses good air support, the reed will vibrate to create a sound. These instruments require patience and perseverance as well as they have several keys that need to be pressed in order to change the sound. As long as the student can a make sound on the instrument and their fingers can reach all of the necessary keys (and avoid the unnecessary keys), they should be successful with practice.
